Join Robin on an engaging walk along the enchanting marsh and woodland trails through this surprising desert oasis known internationally for it bird-life. As you stroll the boardwalk trails under a canopy of cottonwood trees and willows, Robin will share the human and natural history of the Preserve, point out the native plants historically used here by the Serrano Indians for food, medicine, shelter, and tools, and discuss whatever interesting wildlife may cross our path. Robin will also explain how the California Desert Protection Act has shaped the past, present, and future of Big Morongo Canyon Preserve. Bring along binoculars if you’d like a closer peek at the birds settling in for winter at the oasis, and wear comfortable walking shoes. This fun tour will start and end at the Pavilion in adjacent Covington Park, where music, art, and refreshments will await your arrival.
